Esme slipped on her red checkered sun dress and put her hair into a small ponytail. She wouldn't worry about what needed to be done right now. It was Saturday and everyone was just around doing their own things. She walked gracefully out of her and Carlisle's room and down the hall. While on her way to the living room, she noticed her husbands door was open to his study room. She would usual peek in and see what he was up to but she just left him alone and set her attention towards going outside. If she remembered correctly, all the other boys had set their mind on going hunting. It was, after all, a perfect day to do so.
Since vampires glitter in the sun, it would be hard for them to be unnoticed by hikers and such. But today was a cloudy day, like everyday in the town of Forks. Esme started to hum some of the tunes to Edward's songs he played on the piano. She loved it everytime he played. As she moved her pale body down the stairs and towards the front door that led to their porch, she ran her small hands across the beautiful, black grand paino. She opened the front door and moved quickly to the white swing that was hanging off the ceiling. When she sat down, a breeze gently blew through her dark brown hair. Strands that weren't inside her pony tail were blown on to her face and it's delicate features. A small sigh escaped her pale lips as she relaxed into the swing and drifted into her own thoughts.

It was one of those days. Then again, every day was one of those days in the town of Forks, Washington. Rosalie Hale was up in her room trying to decide what to wear. Not that it mattered, since it was a Saturday and she looked gorgeous in anything and everything. There was a lot on Rosalie's mind as of lately, with the wedding and all. So focusing on fashion and other unimportant matters was simply a method of distraction for the beautiful girl.
Eventually she decided on a black Miu Miu mini dress that she'd picked up on her latest shopping trip to Seattle over pale pink leggings. Placing her hands on her curvy hips, she admired her reflection in her full length mirror. Today her eyes matched the dress. They really were a contrast to her long, wavy blonde hair that hung down past her shoulders. Satisfied, she sped out of her room and to the first floor of the house.
A small smile dance across her face as she stepped out through the front door. She was happy that Esme was the one she'd found. Not that Rose didn't love all of her family - she just felt more relaxed around her. In three long and quick steps Rosalie was standing next to the white swing. She bent down a pecked Esme on the cheek before she took a seat on the railing. "Hi Esme, how have you been?" Rosalie hadn't seen most of her family for about three days, since this was one of the few times that she'd came out of her room.

Esme smiled slightly as the sun tried to peak over a gray cloud. It was like a lost person trying to find his or her way out of the darkness, only to get shoved back a couple of steps. That was the hard part, getting back to where you were. Her life was sort of like that. The abusive marriage always bogged her down and she was the girl lost in the long, dark tunnel. When she found out she was pregnant, she had one foot in the light, ready to be happy again, only to be shoved back down the tunnel. The sun would eventually come out one day and now Esme was where she was now. A happily married woman with children who may not be her own but she loved them with all her heart and soul. That was figuratively speaking in her case but she loved them.
Speaking of her children, Rosalie walked out the door, catching Esme's attention. Though she heard her daughter coming down the stairs. Vampires had keen sense of hearing and could hear things miles away. As Rosalie pecked her on the cheek and sat on the railing, her smile got a little wider. "Very well. Just needed to get out I suppose. What about you? Staying cooped up in your room all the time. It's not good for you my dear." She kept her expression soft and her tone mother like.

"Same." That was the thing she loves about Esme. It was obvious that something was bothering Rosalie, but she still wasn't going to bug her about it. Actually, it made her want to talk. Sort of. "I know, Esme." She sighed softly and looked up, smiling a bit more.
"It's just, I don't want to mess anything up." If Rose would have been human then she'd have blushed as she said that. It was honest enough. "Edward's happy, and I don't want to take that away from him." She moved her foot along the crack in the porch, a million questions running through her mind. "I can't understand Bella though" she said, thinking aloud.

Esme laughed quietly to herself though she knew Rose could hear her. Everyone knew that Edward and Isabella were getting married in a few weeks. She loved Bella as her own as well. "Be happy for him. Better yet, with him. He loves this girl so much. Why? Even I don't know. That's just the way Edward is. No one really knows what's going on inside his head. He's the mind reader." She smiled at her little joke. Rose knew what she was talking about. Any vampire would since every single one had their own special abilities or powers as most called it.
She stared at her daughter, wondering what was running through her mind. This was what made Esme feel like she was their friend instead of their mother. They came to her with their problems and was able to talk to her without embarrassment of anything. Most of the time. "It's natural to be a bit envious. There's something about Bella. She is... special I guess you could say. There is something that draws him to her. She is different than most humans." An amused look danced across her pale face as she remembered everything they had been through with this human girl.

Rosalie couldn't help but to laugh at Esme's little joke. "I know I should be happy with him, and in a way I am." But I feel like I'm the only one who's thinking this all the way through, she finished in her head. A pulse in her right hand made Rosalie look down. She'd been squeezing the railing so hard that she'd almost broken it. Embarrassed, she quickly folded her hands in her lap. Her black eyes drifted up to the dreary grey sky and the smile on her lips changed to a small frown.
Snapping out of her thoughts, she realized that Esme was speaking again. Her words were so honest that Rose winced a little. Still, it was comforting to know that someone understood her. Part of her - and a very big part at that - wanted to thank Esme and go back up to her room. Then there was the other side of her that realized talking might help her. Since the plans for the wedding had started, things had been a bit busier than usual. Rosalie knew that this was one of the few times she'd get to say what she wanted to without the whole family there to make it harder.
"Yes, Bella's...special." Rosalie's tone was far more icy than she'd intended. She started to take what she'd said back, but then she stopped herself. Part of explaining how she felt meant she had to be honest, right? "I just wish I could make Edward understand that I'm not jealous of Bella." She took a pause to calm herself down, realizing that edge in her tone wasn't convincing at all. "I'm jealous of that fact that Bella's having a wedding, sure. I mean, how could I not be?" What irritated Rose the most about Bella was that she didn't seem that excited about getting married.

Edward was stylishly propped against the arm of his couch, an aged book opened on his lap. He had simply been relaxing when the thoughts of Rosalie and Esme carried up into his own head. He sighed, irritated, and that’s when he had turned to the book for a way to block out the thoughts. Something that was difficult for him to do during this particular conversation, for it had to do with his speedy approaching wedding with Bella. As much as Edward tried to give his family their privacy and respect their solitude, there were just some things that he couldn’t help but eavesdrop on. Gingerly closing the book shut, and replacing it on the bookshelf at his side, Edward put full concentration forth on listening in on Esme and Rosalie. He understood Rosalie’s frustration with Bella, for he was just as frustrated. He wanted Bella to be turned into one of them even less than Rosalie did, of that he was certain. And Bella not being excited for the wedding, well… that was just Bella.
Edward listened for as long as he could manage before deciding on dropping in on the two. He had had enough alone time for the time being and he never minded a proper conversation with his family. He gracefully jumped up onto his feet and made his was across his room and out the door. His steps slid across the floor of the hall elegantly and down the steps until he was next to his mother and sister in a flash. “Hello Ladies.” He greeted, a small smile playing on his lips as he looked from one to the other. “I couldn’t help but overhear your discussion, excuse me for my eavesdropping. But… don’t you think we should be worrying about more grave matters?” he asked, offering the girls a slight shrug before leaning against the frame of the door. “For example, the Volturi. Or perhaps maybe the fact that Bella wants to be turned into a monster and the Quileute’s will certainly be unhappy about the breaking of the treaty?” he offered with another casual shrug.

Esme rose a slender brow. "Then why are you so worried about Bella and Edward's wedding?" While she was waiting for an answer, Edward came to the door. "Hello, Edward. I thought you and Emmett went hunting?" She listened to him patiently. He did have some good points but this was her and Rosalie's conversation. It was her point of view and she needed to talk. Alone. That was the problem with having a vampire family. Her expression hardened when he mentioned the Volturi. "We are not monsters Edward." Esme said softly. She tried to think of a word that described them differently. "As for the Volturi, I think this is something we as a family should discuss."
Esme hadn't thought of the Quileute's really. "Don't turn Bella if your so worried, dear. It's the risk she is willing to take. It was her idea in the first place." She thought for a moment, letting all her thoughts gather. "We could always take Bella out of the city and turn her if she wants to be one if us so bad." A small sigh escaped the woman's pale lips and she turned her eyes to the sky, letting the air flow through her hair and clothes.

"Edward." Rosalie greeted her brother in an even cooler tone, a smirk of annoyance flickering across her face. Out of all the Cullens, Edward had always been the one that Rosalie had the most problems with. Not that she didn't love him. Edward just had a talent for being...himself.
Letting her coal black eyes drift up to the sky, she took in Edward's words. She looked at Esme for a quick second and answered her question first, careful to soften her tone. "The idea of the wedding is just a sensitive subject for me." Sighing, she ran her fingers through her hair and turned back to her brother. "I was getting there," she snapped. "Bella expects you the change her after the wedding." So putting it off isn't going to help, she thought. "I agree with Esme. The Volturi is something we need to talk about as a family." Rose couldn't help but to feel irritated at Edward for bringing them up. "And as for the dogs, I think we should ask Carlisle exactly what the treaty involves."

Edward quirked a brow at Esme’s question before giving his head a small shake from one side to the other. He had decided he was going to skip out on the hunting trip. Sure, he was thirsty, but he also felt as if he needed to be alone for a while. “I decided to stay home.” He replied simply, straightening up his back and crossing his arms across his chest. “I agree that we should discuss this as a family, Esme. But how much longer are we going to let this issue be delayed? It’s about time we stopped putting the discussion off and truly sat down and discussed it.” He concluded with a firm nod. As he listened to Esme’s proposal, Edwards jaw tightened. How could he not change her? If he didn’t then she wouldn’t marry him. There were certain agreements that had been made. Agreements which he could not back out on. Not only would it be a disappointment to Bella, who wanted Edward to be the one to turn her, but also a disappointment to himself, who wanted to be married to Bella. “I can’t just go back on my word, Esme.” He sighed, an aggravated sigh.
He lowered his arms, his hands now balled into fists at his sides as he glanced over to his sister. He raised an eyebrow at Rosalie’s final thought and rubbed at the side of his face with one smooth palm. “Bella is the classification of difficulty. She couldn’t just understand what is best for her and accept it.” He growled in an annoyed tone. He took in a deep breath, holding it in for a matter of seconds before slowly letting it out again. “Never mind. Its not as if I have a choice anymore.” He glanced around the room for a moment before turning back to his mother and sister. “Where is Carlisle, now that you mention him?”

"Carlisle is almost always working. I'll talk to him Edward I promise. And has anyone seen Jasper?" Esme asked politely. She knew that subject changing wasn't easy when it came to Edward and Bella. "I know," She said with a low sigh. "It was simply a suggestion but Bella would never let it go." Everyone knew this. Including Isabella herself. She was hard headed, stubborn, and very opinionated. It was a strong trait of hers but it also had its weaknesses. Everything did though, right? Esme was feeling the little tension in the air and the thoughts that were running through her sons mind. "Relax, just sit down for a little while. You worry too much Edward. We will figure this out I promise."
One thing that Esme hated most was when people seemed like they were just too busy to sit down and talk for a few minutes. They were a family and they needed to act like one. Everyday people went their separate ways if they weren't there already. Rosalie stayed cooped up in her room, Alice was always out and about, Edward stayed with Bella most of the time if he wasn't at home reading or playing piano, and only God knew where Jasper and Emmett were most of the time. She was alone most of the time, this wedding was putting everyone in chaos and causing so much stress. Of course Esme wanted to help plan the wedding but it was a little early to be doing that.

“Edward, I think she does know what’s best for her.” Rosalie sighed, slowly tearing her eyes away from the cloudy sky. When she turned to face Edward her expression was impassive. “She loves you, that much is obvious.” Running her fingers through her hair, she thought about several things at once. “We already know she’d literally die for you.”
Looking down, she realized what she’d just said. Hopefully Edward wouldn’t take it the wrong way. “What I’m trying to say is,” she paused. This was all incredibly hard for Rosalie. “You’re what’s best for her. She loves you Edward, and she wants to be with you for the rest of her life.” And you were incredibly stupid for trying to compromise with her! she added mentally. “I can’t speak for the family, but I can speak for myself. I don’t like the fact that she has to be changed at all.”
Rosalie felt a lot better now that she'd let that off her chest. She glanced at Esme out of the corner of her eye, curious to see her reaction to her sudden outburst. She shook her head to answer her first question. Rose hadn't seen Jasper or Emmett lately, and she knew that was no one's fault but her own. "And Esme's correct" she said softly. "You're worrying too much Edward."
