It was storming outside, everything was chaotic inside as well. His father going off on a rant about how his school grades were failing, his mother was practically in tears because she was afraid her boy wouldn’t graduate. While Embry was just leaning heavily against the sill, his fingers embedding into the wood. He couldn’t deal with this right now! He just wasn’t strong enough! He had this same lecture every single night for the past three years. But tonight it was different, this year it was his senior year, and his parents just got a letter stating that if he didn’t do better, he wouldn’t be able to graduate with the rest of his class. Which was stupid! Because Embry figured he’d do fine! Half of those classes he wasn’t even going to remember by the time he would graduate anyhow, he found no point in studying a matter that he’d find completely useless later in life.
The next thing he knew, his father yanked him roughly by the shoulders, spinning him around and slamming his back up against the wall. Something Embry was used to, his father’s enraged violence. While the old man spit in his face, the bruises of his father’s grip could already be felt, and while the old man went on about the disappointment of his son, how he must’ve failed as a father, Embry was on the verge of turning. This was pissing him off so damn badly, all he wanted right now was his brothers, the ones that understood him.
And just as his father was about to say those four sickening words, ‘I love you, son’ the words that never meant a darn thing! Because his dad never truly meant it! He didn’t! And even if he did, he never had shown it! Within the blink of an eye, Embry’s lips curled back, a growl bursting from his throat. Frightening his mother and father, the next thing that happened was he ran from the house. The door still wide open behind him, he could hear his father screaming for him to come back. But Embry didn’t listen.
Leaping into the air, he burst. Shreds of clothes flew everywhere, and already his dark black fur was soaked by the rain. But he needed out, he need Jacob…right now! More then anything he needed somebody who would just calm him down!
Within the matter of minutes, he was scratching against the front door of the Black household. Not caring if he woke Billy up, not caring that he was still a wolf. His eyes were red from the angry tears that had come free, and his whole body was shaking. He didn’t have any clothes hidden near by, but he hoped Jake wouldn’t mind lending some sweat pants…Embry needed to talk…now!
Which is why only 13 minutes later, yes he was counting, he was upon the Black porch, growling and barking. He needed his best friend right now, where the hell was he??

Jacob shook his head, spraying droplets of water everywhere, as he cleared his head. It had been a long day. School was stupid, to say the least. He'd tried to get his dad to agree with him that, because they were trying to protect the people of La Push and Forks from vampires, they shouldn't have to go to school. They spent most of the night out running and then during the day they had to sit in boring classes, where they got in trouble if they fell asleep.
However, Billy wasn't as keen on that idea as his son and his son's 'brothers'. So Jake was still going to school. Though how anyone can do good in school with getting an hour of sleep most nights, he didn't know, but it was expected. So he'd been forced to slot in time for homework. Something that had wasted most of the light while he had completed it.
Once he had completed his work he had taken off outside, in a t-shirt and ripped jeans, not caring about the fact that there was a storm going on outside. He'd needed to clear his head. So he'd remained human for the entire time he'd been out, not wanting the others to see how disorganized his mind was at the moment. It had been bad enough when he'd considered leaving the area - living his life out as a wolf - as the others had tried to understand his reasonings. Though he hadn't stayed away for too long, he'd missed his brothers too much.
As he neared his house he was surprised to hear growling and barking. Alarmed he started to run. It was late, and the reasons that he ever got late night visits from the others when they were in wolf form tended to be bad ones. Though he was surprised at the noise. Anyone walking by that didn't know their secret would be either calling a Conservation Officer to get the wolf, or, the more likely of the two, grabbing a shot gun and trying to shot him.
He stopped when he saw the wolf that was Embry on his porch, alone and shaking. He started running again, only stopping when he was on his porch. "What's the matter Embry??"

There were tears streaming down his face, but it wouldn't be notice through his drenched fur. Maybe the fact that his eyes were glossy, and stinging from crying--something Embry never did. Grumbling, more like snarling, in his throat. His long sharp teeth gnashing, he looked up to Jacob with a begging gaze. He couldn't tell Jacob anything whem he was like this. Whimpering, begging, he was hoping his best friend would catch on that Embry needed something to wear. That he wanted to go inside. Embry needed out of this storm, and just the quiet and quiet of his brother's bedroom, and that hard classic rock he himself loved listening too.
He could feel that he had broken down, that he was breaking. But he hadn't been able to take his father's screams any longer. And his shoulder was hurting like hell. The sting from the break earlier yesterday had been mind blowing. It had healed enough now so that there was only a ugly distorted bruise upon the back of his shoulder, near the nape of his neck. Another bruise placed right beneath his ribs, and thank the mighty lord, the black eye he had gotten was gone--except for a purple scratch right beneath upon his high cheek bone.
His father had gotten carried away yesterday...and then bothered with the fight today...which finally ended up with Embry running away. And coming here. For aid, for rescue. He had learned how to keep himself thinking other thoughts while they were running in a pack. So none of the others where very aware. Not of the details. And hopefully not of anything. But he couldn't keep it to himself any longer, and he needed somebody to know. For Jacob to know!
